A true blue Australia Day with Elyse Taylor!
Posted in: people

Aussie supermodel and brand new BONDS Ambassador, Elyse Taylor, is here for Australia Day. We chatted to Elyse to see what she's be getting up to on one of the most fun days of the year! Check it out below...

AustraliaDay2 1. What will you be doing for Australia Day?

I haven’t spent Australia Day actually in Australia for a very long time, so I’ve really missed it and I’m really excited to be able to spend this Australia Day here! I’ll definitely be down at the beach with Lila [her baby] and my close friends, then we’re having a bbq which will be fun.

 2. You’ve been based in New York for the last nine years, what do you most miss about Australia?

I miss nature! The outdoors! And the quality of life in Australia is much better than in New York. For example, buying apartments … the money you pay for what you get is not great. We were quite lucky but friends of mine that have moved have struggled. New York can be a tough city, it’s just hard. But we are quite fortunate, Seth’s family [her husband] has a place in South Hampton so we get grass, we get the beach, but if you don’t you’re just stuck in the city. And I miss the freedom that Australia has, being a kid and running around and all the beaches. I just miss that. The outdoors. Now with Lila, it’s more of a priority to come back here, to have foundations and a base here.

 3. What’s your favourite Aussie phrase?

Fair dinkum!

 4. Your wedding sounds like a fairytale, tell us about it.

We had it in Bridgehampton, which is two and a half hours from Manhattan. My husband’s family has a horse farm there. There’s a polo field so we had a big tent over it and it was just beautiful. The reception was in the indoor riding rink. My family and friends came over from Australia, there was like, 175 people at the wedding so it was big. We’ve been together for almost three years.

 5. And the dress?

Zac Posen’s a really good friend of Seth’s, so it was natural to have him design it and I just asked him one day. He said yes and we hung out, we had four or five lunches discussing it and then he kind of just draped it over me. We collaborated on it together but of course it was all him! It was amazing, he is really fantastic. It was a slip, with lace here [hands across mid-area] and then close to the bodice and then … I’m terrible at describing things! It’s in the back of my wardrobe now, I’ve never done the whole, sitting down watching TV thing in it.
