BONDS CHATS TO REAL PEEPS // PERSONAL TRAINER STEVE
Posted in: people
header-Steve It's the new year and we are back with a bang chatting to Steve, a personal trainer and all round good guy. Since it's the time of year for resolutions and getting back into shape we thought we better get some tips. Here is what Steve had to say about health, fitness, the best spots in Oz and his fave Bonds:
Best tip advice people should know:
Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Most people are unknowingly dehydrated. In my opinion this is the number one thing that holds most people back from attaining their body composition goals. I’ve witnessed time and time again remarkable improvements and progress once clients got their hydration under control. Whether you’re trying to add muscle or strip some excess fat or simply maintain good health, unless you’re adequately hydrated the progress will be slow to non-existent. We are mostly composed of water and our bodies rely on water in order to optimally carry out numerous important bodily functions. Water is grossly underrated because it comes for free from our taps, however to reach your goals sooner and stay healthy it is imperative!
How did you get to be doing what you’re doing today?
Weight training has been a long time passion and constant in my life since my early teens. It started out as a means to get stronger in order to participate in sports and to increase my size and strength as a deterrent to bullies. Fortunately I used the gift of the gab to get out of any difficult situations and can proudly say to this day have never been in a fight and prefer to use diplomacy. It then became a means to attract girls – well at least I thought it might work that way. I know now it is a ‘nice to have optional extra’ and well down on the list of what matters. It soon gets in your very being and the benefits of limitless energy, strength and flexibility become intoxicating! As a means of remaining strong, active and youthful it is unparalleled. I read and researched everything I could on optimising and maximising my results in the gym. I was adamant it could be done in a healthy and natural way and was never swayed or tempted to use any artificial means to obtain my goals. People started to notice my gains and progress and wanted to know how I did it and I was happy to share. It got to a point where I saw I could have a full time career sharing these tips and getting similar results for others and I did. Now the major driving force is the results I achieve for others and the gratitude I receive for their life changing results. The reward of giving back someone’s health, strength and vitality is immeasurable and immensely satisfying. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. steve
What do you love most about what you do?
I love that I get to meet and work with so many wonderful people from diverse backgrounds, with unique personalities, different socioeconomic statuses, ages and genders. There are no two clients alike however most are seeking the same outcome and that is to improve on where they are now in the most efficient, effective way. I get to inspire and motivate these amazing people and in some instances chat and share in their lives. I mostly get to laugh and smile with them, occasionally to share a moment of grief and always to glow and beam with a sense of pride in their efforts and results! I challenge you to find another occupation that can deliver that.
Share with us your favorite Aussie location and why?
I think we live in the best country on earth and to pick one spot over the immense and countless locations that exist is not possible. I have travelled quite extensively throughout this great land from deserts to thick, lush, green rainforests, the eucalyptus bush lands, our rugged and beautiful mountain country, our amazing reef, waterways, oceans and lakes. I love the outdoors and for someone who does then Australia has to top the list for having it all. I love a cool refreshing dip at  Torquay on a hot summer’s day as much as sitting by a fire on a cool clear night at the Grampians with a billion stars overhead. A snorkel around the point at Mt Martha, Safety beach or Portsea, or a fish off the bridge at Barwon Heads. A bush or beach walk at Wilson’s Prom or gazing at the changing face of Uluru at sunset. I could go on and you get my point, what an incredible country we are blessed to call home!
What’s your number one essential Bonds item?

legs-use

I absolutely love and can’t do without my Active Coolits Legtrunk! I came upon this product only recently and it has quickly become my all time favourite can’t do without item. They are extremely comfortable to wear, keep their shape are cool and supportive while equally flexible enabling me to execute and demonstrate any exercise with complete confidence. In fact I recently completed a 20 days of Christmas squat challenge wearing my Active Coolits Legtrunk under my gym shorts. The challenge is to start with 5 squats on the 5 of December and add 5 each day for 20 consecutive days until at Christmas eve you complete 100 consecutive squats. Well this year I decided to make it challenging and used my body weight of 80kg on the bar. Day after day, gruelling addition of reps and time under the bar was made more tolerable by the comfort and support of Bonds Coolits! Ad you can follow Steve on Facey here.
