BONDS CLASSICS: Q&A WITH RUBY ROSE
Posted in: people

It’s been six years since 28-year-old Ruby Rose first slipped into one of our t-shirts for the Made 2 Share campaign. So we caught up with her on set in LA to find out what she’s been up to and what she loves about the Bonds brand.

“The Chesty Bonds tanks are the most versatile thing I own,” says Ruby. “I can wear it with a pair of jeans with a cool necklace if I’m going out, or to the gym, or I can wear it bed.”

“But my Bonds stuff always seems to go missing, my American friends seem to be stealing it!” says the LA-based actress.

We’re counting down the days until her debut on US TV show Orange is the New Black goestoair, but the model and DJ turned actress is taking it all in her stride. “I feel great about taking on the role,” says Ruby. “It’s probably the highlight of my career so far, and I hope that everyone from Australia to America to Europe loves this season.”

We asked her for a toast to mark our 100-year anniversary, she said: “I would, with my glass of sparkling water because I don’t drink, toast: ’Bonds, I hope I look as good as you do when I’m 100’.”

——Q&A——

 1.   What’s your favourite thing about the BONDS brand?

I think that the fact that it’s Australian is obviously my favourite thing about the Bonds brand. And that it’s a really iconic brand, I can remember it as far back as I can recall. I love that it’s really comfortable and easy to wear, and Bonds really stands for that.

2.   You were part of the BONDS Made 2 Share campaign in 2010, what’s your best memory from the shoot?

I got to invite my friends, so instead of just having models do the shoot they wanted to do something different and take that angle of making it a really accessible brand. Which it is. It’s for everybody, and you don’t have to be a supermodel to wear it. The photographer eventually left us with a self-timer clicker and we ended up writing all over each other with texta, we just had a blast.

3.   Are you excited for Australia to see your debut on TV in Orange is the New Black? How do you feel about taking on this role?

I feel great about it. I hope that everyone from Australia to America to Europe loves this season. It’s probably the highlight of my career so far. I love my character; she’s super cool. It honestly didn’t feel like work. It was always my favourite show before I started working on it.

4.   Do you rep BONDS in the US? What’s your favourite piece to wear?

Whenever I’m home I buy a bunch of stuff and bring it back over here. But it always seems to go missing, my American friends seem to be stealing my Bonds.

I’m all about the Chesty tank tops. They are super comfortable, it fits my body shape, I can wear it with a pair of jeans with a cool necklace if I’m going out, or to the gym, or I can wear it bed. It’s actually the most versatile thing that I own.

5.   What would your toast be to BONDS on their 100th birthday?

I would, with my glass of sparkling water because I don’t drink, toast: ’Bonds, I hope I look as good as you do when I’m 100’.
