I bought some black work socks, sports socks and underwear for my 20 year old son who is moving to Brisbane on Friday. My son was going to work and so I said here wear these new socks. They have the Bonds name at the top. He tried one on and said mum I can’t wear these, they are cutting off my circulation, I said never mind I will take them back to Bonds here in Cairns and I intended to get a few more things for him while I was there. I explained this to the girl at the desk, who stood repeating the store policy of no returns because no longer packaged. I nicely explained that it was impossible to see the lack of stretch in these socks when buying because of the packaging. She stood there with her hand on her hip in a defiant stance and supercilious look on her face, kept repeating the policy which I believe is against Consumer Law and showed no look of care that my money was now wasted and I may as well throw them away. I said this is the biggest size you make, 11-14 and my son is tall and thin so no one can wear these socks, there’s a definite fault. Oh no there not faulty she said without an ounce of concern in her condescending tone. I believe in buying Australian, have always bought Bonds in the past but her behaviour and these obvious unwearable socks means that I won’t buy Bonds again.
