Stamping her mark on the on the Sydney soul and electronic scene is Aussie R’n’B sensation, Thandi Phoenix. With a sound that is equal parts raw and emotive, Thandi kickstarted her career in 2015 by collaborating with Ta-ku, B-Wise and Coin Banks. This was followed by her single, ‘Come Around,’ which received fanfare from Triple J. Her first record in 2016, ‘Tell Me Where The Lovers Have Gone,’ attracted rave reviews, and she has been described as “one of Australia’s most promising female artists.”
We sat down with the emerging songbird, who stars in our For Aussies By Aussies video series, to find out what’s been her biggest career highlight to date and what three songs are always on the top of her playlist.
When and how did your passion for music begin?
Ever since I was little I’d dance and sing around the place. Spice Girls had me going!
What has been your biggest career or personal highlight to date?
Releasing ‘Tell Me Where The Lovers Have Gone’, getting airplay on the Triple J and then getting to go on tour it with Rudimental.
